SHANGHAI, China (BdS)--St. John's University, now Eastern China Law School, was an Anglican university located in Shanghai. Founded in 1897, the school was regarded at that time as one of the China's top universities. In the middle of the building today stands the monument of Zou Taofen who was once a student there. The graduates of St. John's University includes some of the greatest Chinese names in modern history, such as Wellington Koo and Shi Jiuyong, former vice-president and current president of International Court of Justice, Lin Yutang the well-known writer and I.M. Pei, one of the most successful architects of the 20th century who designed the Louvre Pyramid in Paris. Posted by Picasa
